Sekong Province

Location Map of sekong province Laos PDR

Sekong Province, in the south of Laos, shares its eastern border with Vietnam and stretches eastward to the Bolaven Plateau. It is one of the remotest areas of the country, and also one of the least travelled. Those who like to travel off the beaten path will be rewarded for their efforts. The province offers natural spectacles a plenty. With the Se Kong River dissecting the province, the mighty 1500m high cliffs of the Dakcheung Plateau in the east, the rugged terrain of the Xe Sap National Protected Area in the south, and several impressive mountains to scale, this province offers adventures and physical challenges for the intrepid traveler. Photography buffs will delight in the stunning beauty of the various waterfalls including the Nam Tok Katamtok which pour out of thick jungle and tumble over 100m with the thunder of Thor. Another reason to visit here is the people: there are many different ethnic groups that are noted for their welcoming dispositions and their friendliness.
