A future economic hub between China and Thailand, this city has potential for expansion. From the tourist point of view it is worth a visit because it has the highest number of ethnic groups in the region.
Muang Sing
Muang Sing has become a fashionable travel destination. Located 3 hours from Luang Nam Tha it is only 20 km from the Chinese border which unfortunately is closed to foreigners. The Nam Ha Ecotourism Project has set up the Tourism and Information Office, it is a terrific resource for visitors to the town, and chock-full of detailed information about the town and its history, the ethnic groups in the area, their dress, cultural beliefs and history.
